Chevrolet is one of the world’s oldest car manufacturers having been founded well over 100 years ago, in 1911, by Louis Chevrolet and former General Motors founder William C. Durant.

The American manufacturer, whose Headquarters are in Detroit, Michigan, primarily sell their vehicles in their homeland, however they have ventured into other territories, including Oceania and Europe. In 2005, Daewoo became rebranded under the Chevrolet umbrella, meaning models such as the Matiz, were rebadged as Chevrolet products. This was an attempt by General Motors to build Chevrolet up to be a global brand, whilst simultaneously marketing traditional brands such as Vauxhall (Opel in Europe) into more upmarket audiences to compete with the likes of Audi and BMW. However, GM eventually pulled the plug on this idea in 2013, announcing that from late 2016, the Chevrolet brand would no longer be sold in the European territory, with the exception of two models.

The two models which ‘Chevvy’, as they are commonly known as, continued to sell in Europe and the UK were the Camaro and Corvette, which are arguably the company’s best-known models, certainly outside of the United States. The Camaro is Chevrolet’s rival to the likes of the Ford Mustang, and has more of a muscle car appearance, with the Corvette having a more traditional sports car look to it. Currently Chevrolet only offers the Corvette Stingray in the UK.

Away from their cars, in 2012 Chevrolet signed a sponsorship deal with Manchester United Football Club which saw them become the club’s automotive sponsor. Two years later, the brand became their primary shirt sponsor in a deal which ran for seven years and was worth an eye-watering $560m.

What size are Chevrolet number plates?

Chevrolet license plates for models built for the UK market are of a standard size of 520mm x 111mm. However, some Brits import Chevrolets into the country in order to gain access to models which would otherwise be unavailable. With these particular cases, we offer a wide range of import sized plates, which can be found over on our Plate Builder. So, whether you’re in need of replacement Chevrolet plates or want to personalise your American dream, we’ve got you covered.
